Research shows that two-thirds of Kenyans depend directly on agriculture for their living. Many young Kenyans who have just cleared school struggle to find work, or only have low-paid jobs. This prolongs their dependency on their parents and fuels frustrations, which increases the likelihood of violence or conflict.

iKilimo- Smart Farming tool works to address the youth problems by giving information to the young and old people interested in venturing into farming business. This is so as to grow high-quality crops and livestock that can be sold to develop income and employment opportunities. This tool has shown that young people in both rural and urban areas are willing to take up farming as a livelihood and that, with the right information, support and training, they will venture and grow successfully into farming as a source of income.
